In the new church built after the fighting of 1870, everything tells the story of this tragic day of December 2, 1870 when 9000 men fell, killed or wounded. It is in the mortuary chapel and the ossuary crypt that 1200 French soldiers and 60 Germanic officers rest, as well as General de Sonis and General de Charette who had the command of the former Papal Zouaves.
