The Saint-Michel-des-Lions Limoges was built on more than a century, from the late fourteenth to the early sixteenth century.
Previously, on the same site, a chapel and two churches were destroyed by fire and a last, built from 1213 had finally collapsed.
In front of its name to the presence on the place of four stone lions of Roman origin, the church succession of Gothic and Gothic styles. She is particularly known for its typical bell Limousin surmounted by a metal ball.
Even when completed, the church would then know moult alterations: the side chapels, an additional bay, new windows were added as well.
The interior also presents three parallel ships of the same height with vaults, separated by very thin batteries.
Historic Monument in 1909, the Saint-Michel-des-Lions houses the relics of St. Martial, Saint Loup and Saint Valérie kept in a reliquary altar nineteenth century altarpiece which evokes the life and miracles of St. Martial. PIETAS and stained glass of the fifteenth century, a statue of St. Valerie (XV) and a painting by Claude Vignon (XVII) are also retained.
