Located in the town of Vans, in Ardèche, the Château de Chassagnes is now listed in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries on the remains of an old medieval keep, it reveals all the characteristics of a stately building of the Vivarois aristocracy of the time.
Several times modified over the centuries, the building has been embellished with pepperbox turrets with glazed tile roofs in the 17th century and its walls pierced for the arrangement of bays in the 19th century. At the end of the 1930s, a small garden was elegantly fitted out on the terrace which still presents today the remains of a very ingenious old hydraulic system.
