Do not miss: the church of Saint-Léger, built in Chaux-lès-Châtillon is the pride of Land-of-Chaux. Built in the 12th century and modified in the 14th and sixteenth, it combines authentic remains the main periods of religious architecture. The frescoes in the choir are unique in Franche-Comte. This is undoubtedly the arrival of the Holy Shroud relic that wrapped the dead Christ, in Saint-Hippolyte, neighboring town of Villersexel provided by Humbert, Count de la Roche, who was the key factor of the new iconography of the choir and its architectural transformation. The stone roof, also called roof washing or slate, has almost disappeared from the Franche-Comte horizon.
