Le Vieux-Bourg is a village in the Côtes-d'Armor, in Brittany, about thirty kilometers southwest of Saint-Brieuc and its bay.
The hilly territory of the town was inhabited since the Neolithic and then during the Gallo-Roman and remains rich in evidence of this period (dolmens and menhirs).
Named until the 16th century Vieux-Bourg de Quintin, in reference to the neighboring village of Quintin, the parish then becomes autonomous and the activity remains agricultural.
Counting up to 1,500 inhabitants in the nineteenth century, against less than 800 now, Le Vieux-Bourg nevertheless benefits from the proximity of the briochin agglomeration, and its ancient heritage (Neolithic) as its landscapes are popular with hikers and fans of Celtic culture.
Dedicated to Notre-Dame and Saint-Corentin, the church of the town dates for its oldest elements of the thirteenth century, then attached to the diocese of Quimper. It was remodeled in the eighteenth century and the current bell tower was installed in 1854. The building is the most notable of the village center, because it is then necessary to travel the green and hilly surroundings of the village to discover at the discretion of the localities and hamlets the seven megaliths that have been classified or registered as historic monuments.
These include the Kerbrun stele, the Porzic menhir (6 m high, granite, dating from the Neolithic), the menhir of the Ville-Juhel (or the Pont aux Prêtres), the menhir of Pasquiou, the dolmen of Pasquiou (400 m south), or, in the same sector, the christianized menhir called the Pasquiou cross, at a place called Crozel Huellan, nearly 4 m high and in the shape of a sugar loaf: a cross been fixed at its summit.
