A commune of more than 2,800 inhabitants, Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache takes place in the Hauts-de-France, in the department of Aisne. Located in the arrondissement of Vervins, it is crossed by the Morteau and Noirrieu.

Originally rural, the commune of Nouvion-en-Thiérache has developed over the centuries and today has turned to tourism. It presents to its visitors an important architectural heritage, some sites are classified or registered in the Historic Monuments.

Things to see and do

Two castles take place on the commune of Nouvion-en-Thiérache, the Grand Chateau, which saw the birth of the Count of Paris in the early 20th century, and the Petit Chateau. You will not fail to discover the park of the New Castle, as well as the garden of the castle of the Point du Jour.

Walking through Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache, you can discover different houses and other farms listed on the Patrimoine de France, or appreciate the charm of the town hall and its red and white facade.

The church of Saint-Denis, of typical architecture of the Aisne, is also lacking interest. Built in red bricks, it stands proudly in the heart of the town.

The cross of the Veneurs, of the middle of the XIXe century, and the chapel Notre-Dame-de-Liesse, also called chapel Jerome, are impossible to circumvent of the city. The second, which dates from the mid-eighteenth century, is one of the many chapels scattered throughout Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache, like the chapel of Santa Rita.

The municipality is also labeled "Station verte" and has a summer leisure center with swimming areas, camping and other entertainment. Not far away, the farm of Liesse allows to discover different animals and to learn about life in the countryside.

Several marked trails are arranged for hiking or cycling.
