A mid-mountain resort for Alpine and cross-country skiing, Le Lioran is located in the Laveissière municipality, amid the Mounts of Cantal in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. Covering 150 hectares, Le Lioran is the biggest ski area in the Massif Central, and its pistes among the pines are suitable for all levels of skiing ability.

A really family-friendly resort, Le Lioran offers many outdoor activities during the winter season: cross-country skiing on its 75 kilometres of trails, Alpine skiing on its 44 slopes, snowshoe hikes, dog sled rides, skijoring, luge, skating rink, ice climbing…

In summer, snow activities make way for hiking, offering a chance to look at the flora and fauna, along with mountain biking, tennis, mini-golf and Alpine coaster rides.

A cable car departing from the resort will take you close to the top of the Plomb du Cantal in 10 minutes. Once you are up there, a path will lead you to the highest point of the Mounts of Cantal in twenty minutes or so, for stunning views over the Massif Central peaks.

Point of interest: the resort has a balneotherapy centre with a full range of relaxation and fitness equipment.

Le Lioran

Situated in the Cantal mountains, Le Lioran is a ski resort in the Massif Central. The site is located in the heart of the Cantal volcano, the largest in Europe, and the Auvergne Volcanoes Park. Most of the station takes place in the town of Laveissière.

The idyllic location of Lioran offers him a rich and unique natural heritage. The views on such legendary peaks as the Lead of the Cantal, the Teton de Venus or the Puy du Rocher bring a certain charm to this resort Auvergne.

The Lioran road tunnel, built in the mid-nineteenth century, was in fact, in his time, the first tunnel of France and the world's longest.

A monument honors the ten deaths in the town during the Battle of Lioran in 1944, during World War II.

Inaugurated by Georges Pompidou, the cable of the Lead of the Cantal is still the most popular tourist infrastructure throughout the Auvergne.

Many nineteenth-century buildings occupy the station of Lioran, like the house of the chief mender of 1843, or the Daude hotel built in 1896.

An animated winter sports resort, Le Lioran regularly organizes events to entertain leisure enthusiasts.

The Snow Festival is held every year in January in several winter sports resorts, such as Le Lioran.

In February, place at the Hibernarock festival with an evening of various and varied concerts.

The month of May sees the appearance of the Vélo Vert Festival with mountain bike courses and animations.

In June, arrival of the transhumance party 3 weeks earlier from the Lot department, more than 1 000 ewes.

In July, place at the Festival of the Mountain with a dinner dance and gastronomic discoveries, craft or mountain.

The 4x4 festival, with a motorized race, is organized in July on Laveissière.
