Le Lauzet-Ubaye

Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence

A charming little village in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, Le Lauzet-Ubaye is located in the Ubaye valley, more than 900 meters above sea level. The municipality takes place in the district of Barcelonnette, near the lake of Lauzet.

Formerly crossed by a Roman road, this village in the south of France was long the property of the counts of Provence. Originally separated, the two communes of Lauzet and Ubaye merged in the late 1950s, during the drowning of Ubaye by the lapping of the lake of Serre-Ponçon.

Even today, the commune of Lauzet-Ubaye is appreciated by tourists for its natural heritage and its exceptional landscapes. A modest architectural heritage is also present to testify to the richness of this small village of medieval origin.
