Small village of Seine-Maritime between Dieppe and Saint-Valery-en-Caux, on the Alabaster Coast, Le Bourg-Dun, takes place in the heart of the Pays de Caux, seventy kilometers from Rouen, former capital of the Haute- Normandy.

Created after the 10th century, despite the presence of some houses in the Gallo-Roman era, the city of Bourg-Dun was English during part of the 15th century. Prospered from this time, the village then suffered Protestant looting in the sixteenth century during the wars of religion.

Long known for its flax production, the origin of a festival still to discover today, the village of Bourg-Dun now unveils a more tourist activity. Dynamic and very animated, it presents a vast historical heritage to discover the time of a stay in the surroundings.

Things to see and do

Listed as a Historical Monument, Notre-Dame Church dates from the early 11th century and was built on the ruins of an old abbey destroyed in the 9th century by the Normans. From the original building, there remains today only a small alley on the left side, as well as the transept. Remodeled at different times, the church unveils in particular a chapel of the Sepulcher in the Renaissance vault of the sixteenth century or a very beautiful rosette twelve rays of the mid-nineteenth century. Mixing stone and sandstone, the building also has some objects classified as the baptismal font, or the high altar and gilded altarpiece of the seventeenth century.

Built in the 14th century, the Saint-Julien chapel was at the time in the manor of Estout de Gruchet, lord and patron saint of Saint-Denis-du-Val. Today located between a farmhouse and a beautiful sandstone calvary of the sixteenth century, it is classified historical monument especially for its frescoes.

The 18th century bread oven in the hamlet of Flainville deserves a glance for its elegant architecture. In brick, sandstone and wood, it still works today, especially during the bread festival.

Dovecotes can also be admired throughout the town, including the various hiking trails offered around to discover the local flora and fauna.

Events and festivities

In October, the town offers a fair to everything with carnival.

In June, Music and Gourmandise is a festive animation to enjoy the good weather.

The festival of flax and needle is organized in July with exhibitions, a parade or a flax market.

The bread festival takes place in August on the bread oven Flainville.

In early August, place at the village fair and its animations.
