The Portail-Neuf tower is located in the town of Laure-Minervois, in the Aude department, 18 km northeast of Carcassonne.
Along with the Portail Bousquet tower, also known as the "Wooded Tower", it is one of the last vestiges of the fortifications that once protected the Château de Lauran, then the residence of the lords of the area, and the medieval village. Particularly massive, the Portail-Neuf tower was located to the south-west of the enclosure, some elements of the walls of which can also be seen. Built in the 14th century, its walls have battlements and the tower also has a semicircular arch surmounted by the seigniorial coat of arms until the Revolution.
Protected as historical monuments, the building can mark out a walk in the historic heart of the village made up of narrow streets: a site of character which dominates the wine-growing plains. Information on +33 4 68 78 12 19 or +33 4 68 76 34 74.
