The park of the castle of Larra is located in the eponymous town, in Haute-Garonne, 30 km north-west of Toulouse.
The estate dates from the 18th century: the castle in the form of a Palladian villa was built for Jean-François de Tournier, president of the Parliament of Toulouse.
A pleasure residence, the castle was quickly endowed with a park of about fifteen hectares crossed by a double lyre-shaped alley. A parterre in the axis of the facade, in the form of a French garden, is framed by rectilinear alleys and adorned with four terracotta fountains and a basin. There is also a large grove (planted with different varieties of oaks) traversed by alleys arranged in a star: it is accessed by a portal surmounted by two terracotta lions, this part being closed by brick walls decorated with vases and pots. fire.
A collection of perennials, a rose garden, an orchard and a vegetable garden have also been preserved.
On the other hand, two spaces on the margins of the whole, the Labyrinthe de Buis and the Bois des Essences, have disappeared.
As for the initial orangery, it has been transformed into a chapel. Finally, note that in these French gardens, peacocks roam free.
