Municipality of Velay, in the Haute-Loire department, Lapte takes place about forty kilometers from the very touristy Puy-en-Velay. It is located not far from Sainte-Sigolène, Montregard and Saint-Maurice-de-Lignon, in the heart of an authentic and charming nature.
According to local legend, the municipality of Lapte was founded on the site of a dolmen whose stones were used to build the first church. The city is however mentioned in the registers only from the eleventh century, and was then located in the center of a seigneury.
