Very old city, Langueux was created in the fifth century by Guethenoc, the son of Fragan, former head of Brittany insular came to settle in Brittany Armorican. Enjoying a temperate climate, the city started in the nineteenth century in market gardening, specializing in the cultivation of carrots, cabbages and other onions. At the same time, Langueux develops its saltworks in the bay of Saint-Brieuc.

Today, the city is mainly known for its tourist activity and its many sites to discover the time of a stay in the region.

Things to see and do

Of typical Breton architecture, the church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul welcomes in its bosom a table inscribed with the Historical Monuments as object, the Assumption of Raphael Donguy.

Two viaducts take place on the territory of the commune, that of Douvenant and that of Vau-Hervé. Both were built at the beginning of the 20th century for the Côtes-du-Nord railways. Do not miss to admire the bridges of the Cage and races also built for trains.

Located on the shores of the bay of Saint-Brieuc, the old brickyard of Saint-Ilan has become a very nice museum dedicated to the history of the bay. There are collections of brickworks, market gardening, and the Côtes-du-Nord railways. In this new park Boutdeville, it is also possible to borrow, in summer, a small tourist train unique in the region. The latter crisscrossed Brittany from 1905 to 1956 and was completely renovated by enthusiasts.

Several hiking trails are available in and around Langueux to discover the bay of Saint-Brieuc and the local fauna and flora. Let yourself be seduced by the beach of La Grève races.

The town has an ice rink ideal for outings with family or friends.
