A 13th century building now listed as a Historic Monument, the Notre-Dame de Mailhat church is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. Mainly built in arkose, it takes place on the remains of a first sanctuary of the 11th century. Raised and fortified in the late Middle Ages, then enlarged in the 15th century, it reveals to its visitors a plan with a single nave and a canted apse. The facade fascinates with its anthropomorphic and zoomorphic heads on capitals and corbels.
Inside the Notre-Dame de Mailhat church, visitors can discover an exceptional decor based on mermaid, eagle or griffin motifs.
