Set between Bonnieux and Gordes, in the Vaucluse department, Castle Lacoste is one of the Luberon tourist jewels. Built in the eleventh century, this building listed historic monument has become the sixteenth century the property of one of the most famous French writers, the famous Marquis de Sade.
In 2001 the ruined building became the property of Pierre Cardin who participated in its restoration for many years now for its public access. It is particularly possible to find apartments of the Marquis de Sade, furniture from the private collection of Pierre Cardin he brought back from his many travels around the world or even contemporary art.
Castle Lacoste also offers breathtaking views from its terraces on the Calavon valley, Vaucluse mountains or Mont Ventoux. In summer, the site is illuminated on the occasion of a major classical music festival.
