Nestled between the sea and the Provençal countryside, Valletta is close to major highways and close to the airport Toulon-Hyères.
Founded by the Romans - The Happy Valley or Vallis Laeta (Latin) - reinforced later medieval city; Valletta carefully preserves the traces of that past in its heart of town. A bell tower, church of the thirteenth century, and fountains multitudes which sank yesterday prosperity; all this constituting a rich heritage today, more alive than ever.
La Valette-du-Var today has about 22,000 inhabitants, and its current evolution integrates the strong elements of local identity: a modern city which nevertheless seeks to maintain its Provencal village character; and a diverse architectural heritage and a natural environment.
The attachment to its natural heritage is not a fleeting love. The Domaine de Baudouvin received the label Remarkable Garden, a national dimension gratitude for the extensive redevelopment which he was subject. Since then, the Remarkable Garden of Baudouvin is open to a large audience, which just taste the charm of Provencal gardens of the eighteenth century, discover the forgotten vegetable varieties such as the recent water-saving techniques and energy. The passion of the gardens extends twenty other parks and squares that make up the city. It also crosses the city limits since Valettois have long worked to promote the slopes of Coudon with the varietal olive Conservatory.
Mount Coudon rises to 702 meters. You can hike along the terraces of Coudon before heading out on the GR 51.
Since December 7, 2010, the Coudon is classified protected site, which forever prohibits any construction in this natural site. This ranking is the result of a long "battle" conducted by the association Friends of Coudon and the City, and is celebrated each fall during a day walk together all lovers of mountain valettoise...
Thus, life is organized in the most natural world in these sumptuous sets. Family events and appointments regularly play the green card: botanical walks, meetings and appointments to the gardens dot the calendar Valettois... Not to mention Nights Coudon who lend their grandiose setting every summer to the most prestigious vocal ensembles.
The city has more than 200 shops (parking is free everywhere), a major shopping area (Grand Var), and the first tertiary center of the Var, Valgora. The success of the large neighbor Ikea, and its rapid expansion, confirms the attractive force of the sector-wide agglomeration Toulon Provence Méditerranée and well beyond.
Valletta really deserves attention, if we moved there!
