Located in the town of La Salle-les-Alpes in the Hautes-Alpes, Saint Bartholomew chapel was built in the fifteenth century on the remains of a medieval castle. On appearance quite simple, it is by its incredible inside the building seduces its visitors.
Almost all the walls of the Saint Bartholomew is well covered with incredible medieval frescoes depicting the beginnings of Christianity in particular through the crucifixion of Jesus, the resurrection of Lazarus, or St. Catherine of Alexandria of life.
Today listed building, the Saint Bartholomew chapel La Salle-les-Alpes experienced significant restoration campaign in the 1970s which helped bring out the beauty of the colors and designs visible inside.
