Resulting from the transformation of the autonomous port of La Rochelle, the maritime port of La Rochelle is the commercial port of the city of Charente-Maritime. Sixth largest seaport of France in tonnage and goods, and the first European port for the import of logs, it takes place in the district of La Pallice.
Built in the late nineteenth century, the seaport of La Rochelle also houses a passenger terminal that welcomes ships in the summer.
