A former Benedictine priory from the beginning of the 18th century, the priory of La Réole now benefits from an inscription in the Historic Monuments for its main staircase, its wrought iron gate and its carpentry door.
Erected on the remains of a first building from the end of the 10th century, the priory of Saint-Pierre de La Réole has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. Abandoned at the time of the Revolution, it later became a district court, before hosting the administrative services of the town hall, a position it still holds.
While there are no remains of the 10th century building, visitors can still admire most of the 18th century buildings.
