Located in the heart of La Mure, in Isère, in the oldest building in the town, the Matheysin museum unveils collections of tools, paintings, photographs and machines retracing the history of Matheysine, Beaumont and Valbonnais.
Thus, visitors can discover archaeological collections on Prehistory or the Middle Ages, as well as rooms on the Wars of Religion, miners, peasants, glovemakers and peddlers who made the country famous. The Matheysin museum also offers to admire spaces dedicated to regional sculptors and painters of the 19th and 20th centuries, like Claude Garanjoud and Olivier Messiaen.
Temporary thematic exhibitions are also offered each year.
