Village of Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, La Motte-en-Bauges takes place at about forty kilometers from Chambéry, halfway between Aix-les-Bains and Annecy, in the Regional Natural Park of the Massif des Bauges.
Located on a molassic promontory, the town is one of the oldest settlements of the Bauges. A Gallo-Roman site was discovered in the course of the nineteenth century. A long time farming village, La Motte-en-Bauges sees the appearance of fruit in the nineteenth century, for the manufacture of regional cheeses.
