Things to see and do

Over the years, the municipality of La Chaussée-Saint-Victor has been able to highlight its architectural heritage, renovating old buildings in order to enhance its history. As you stroll through the town, you will be able to discover several washhouses, the old 13th century pivot windmill, the old press or even an old chain and bucket pump.

Let yourself be seduced by the zouave in the hall of the town hall which commemorates Abdel Kader's visit to the town, before going to visit the Saint-Victor church. Built in the 15th century and then enlarged in the second half of the 17th century, it was mostly rebuilt in the 19th century, revealing a four-bay nave, a bell tower-porch or even very beautiful terracotta statues from the 18th century and a stained glass window from the 15th representing the charity of Saint Martin.

The cemetery chapel also deserves special attention. Today it still houses the tomb of the hermit Saint Victor under his altar.
