Zoom on Acadia: Acadia was a territory of New France created by the king of France in North America from the seventeenth to the eighteenth century. The name could come from the Micmac (Native people) "akadie" which means "fertile land". Today, there are several Acadian homes grouped in the Maritime Provinces of Canada, Quebec, Newfoundland, Louisiana (Cajuns) and in the west of France (Belle Île).
