At the turn of the picturesque neighborhoods of the P'tit mur, the visitor discovers a preserved architectural heritage: George Sand Museum and the Black Valley, wooden houses, ancient tanneries, mansions, medieval bridge, Italian theater, former convent of Carmelites... The market of La Châtre takes place on the market square on Saturday morning, all year long.

Temporary exhibitions at the Hotel de Villaines and the Château d'Ars.

"One hour, one piece" conferences, at the George Sand Museum and the Black Valley: every last Saturday of the month at 11.30am.

If George Sand is ubiquitous whether through the street names of La Châtre (or its museum, closed in 2018) or in the vicinity (his house in Nohant), where we discover the sites described in his novels as the mill from Angibault to Montipouret, the Mare au diable in Mers-sur-Indre, the fortress of Sarzay, the castle of Petit Coudray in Verneuil-sur-Igneraie, the park of Parelles to Crevant... Do not forget Jacques Tati, famous filmmaker, who turned "Jour de Fête", and the opening of the scenovision "Maison de Jour de Fête" retracing the history of shooting in 1947 in Sainte-Sévère.
