The castle of Gascherie La Chapelle-sur-Erdre is located at 10 km north of Nantes.
The current building was built in the fifteenth century on the foundations of the first castle was owned by Arthur's Hawk. Subsequently, the field is the birthplace of François de La Noue, Huguenot captain and philosopher. In the seventeenth century, the Charette family Colinière acquired it, and this large manor was erected in marquisate in 1775.
After the Revolution during which the castle was seized and sold as national property, it is acquired by Poydras family Lalande who retain until the 1930s one of the representatives of this line, in the nineteenth century, contributed to the home Louisiana United States of America.
In the late nineteenth century, a major restoration is completed, affecting mainly the interior, making the park also the subject of a new layout.
The castle which overlooks a wing during the Erdre is now at the center of an agricultural area that includes an equestrian center. Wooded areas, items such as gatehouse, grid, loft, chapel, still mark the property listed in the inventory since 2001.
