Juvignac is in the Hérault in Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrenees. Member of the conurbation of Montpellier, it charms by its variety of landscapes that offer scrubland and vineyards.
Formerly called Juviniacum the Gallo-Roman era, the city of Juvignac has had an illustrious history that began with the passage of Hannibal and his elephants in 219 BC, during its progression to Italy. Former capital of the Carolingian tax department, the town has long been known for its thermal activity and its wine production. Indeed, part of Juvignac enables the production of AOC Saint-Georges-d'Orques.
Near Montpellier, Juvignac is an excellent starting point for discovering the most beautiful sights of the Hérault. Nice and full of life, the city is not lacking most of tourist attractions, including the architectural and historical level.
Historic sites abound in the city of Juvignac, reflecting a glorious and eventful past.
The Baths of Juvignac are fed by the hot springs of the Valadière. These have been exploited since Roman times and experienced a significant success in the mid nineteenth century. This large 180-hectare park, now owned by the town, has become a very popular promenade. It also serves the organization of many events in the city.
Important historical vestige of Juvignac, the Romanesque bridge has experienced many vicissitudes, and saw many of his arches disappear.
Listed historic monument, Castle Caunelles is an important winery of the city. Built in the fourteenth century, it was largely rebuilt in the eighteenth century.
Another great winery, Château de Fourques was built in the fifteenth century. Restored in the eighteenth century after a fire, it now offers demonstrations, tastings and other tours of all kinds.
Built in the 1970s, St. Mark church replaced a church in the late seventeenth century.
Fontcaude Golf offers 18 holes on more than 80 hectares, all in exceptional landscapes.
The market is held on Wednesday, while a local market is offered on Saturday morning.
In July, celebrates Juvignac to discover several animations.
