Things to see and do

Of ancient existence, Ivry-sur-Seine has a rich and interesting architectural and historical heritage.

Listed building, the Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul church was built in the course of the twelfth century. The buildings present today spread this period until the eighteenth century. Inside, it is possible to admire a beautiful symphonic organ Stolz or stained glass from different eras. Ivry-sur-Seine also houses the Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Plateau early twentieth century.

Fort d'Ivry, built in the mid-nineteenth century once used to protect Paris. He is one of sixteen forts detached from the walls of Thiers. Today, ditches building hosting allotments.

The mill of the Tour was included in the inventory of Historical Monuments in the late 1970s.

Historical Monument, the Manufacture Carnation is a former factory of metallurgical processing. Since the end of production in 1980, it serves as an exhibition and theater. Since 2001, the Manufacture is also home to a vocational school of graphic arts and architecture of Paris. In front of the buildings, the tree of liberty, an oak planted in 1789, is considered remarkable tree.

The City Hall houses four Ivry-sur-Seine Fernand Léger fresco depicting the famous poem by Paul Eluard, Liberté.

Green spaces abound in Ivry-sur-Seine including the Cormailles park that was honored with the prize of the landscape in 2007, or the Parisian cemetery of Ivry with more than 1800 trees.

Events and festivities

Ivry-sur-Seine offers several cultural events every year.

Several markets are at Ivry-sur-Sseine each week. The center of the market is held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 13h and Wednesday from 16h to 20h, the Avenue Maurice Thorez every Wednesday and Sunday from 8 am to 13h, and Barbusse market takes place every Saturday 8h to 13h.

New kid in Ivry-sur-Seine celebrations, the festival Head in the stars the famous architecture and urbanism in March.

The Humarathon takes place every year on a weekend in April.

musical event, the Festival On Pointes is held annually in May.

In June, the ivryenne Sports Fortnight allows residents of Val-de-Marne to learn the sport.

Frontline is a literary festival held each year in September.

Every year in September, the city hosts three days of protests in the workshops of artists Ivry. Are held exhibitions, artistic demonstrations or guided tours.

Marne Festi'Val place in October, with dozens of artists performing in the city for two weeks.
