Ingrannes is a small village of about 500 inhabitants, located in the heart of the forest of Orléans, in the Loiret department. As the crow flies, the town is 25 km from Orléans and 15 km from Châteauneuf-sur-Loire.
At the Gallic time, Ingrannes was at the border (forest) between the Carnutes and Senones, who became limit between the Gallo-Roman cities of Orleans and Sens, and then, until 1789, between the dioceses of Orleans and Sens. Hence its name Ingrannes (of Egoranda, "limit, border" in Gallic). But during the creation of departments in 1790, the southern Gâtinais (Montargis), which belonged to the diocese of Sens and the generality of Orleans, was attached to the Loiret; so qu'Ingrannes lost its neighboring position.
Ingrannes is crossed by the Roman road from Sens to Orleans, also called path of Caesar. Two walking routes through the village.
