Located at Illiers-Combray, in Eure-et-Loir, the Marcel Proust museum takes place in the heart of the former family home in which the famous author of Searching for Lost Time spent part of his vacation.
Labeled Maison des Illustres and Musée de France and listed as a Historic Monument, the site is today the property of the Société des Amis de Marcel Proust and is open to the public who can discover a large number of personal objects related to the writer.
An important collection of furniture, objects, portraits, photographs and other letters bequeathed by his family or loved ones is revealed through the bedrooms of Marcel and members of his family, the kitchen, the oriental living room, Nadar's photography room or the Pré-Catelan garden located not far away.
