Small village of Brittany, Hoedic takes place in the department of Morbihan, on an island of the same name located off the mainland. Stretching over 2 km², it is thirteen kilometers from Belle-Île, and five kilometers from Houat.
The village of Hoedic was occupied since the Mesolithic period, as evidenced by the discovery of several tombs at the beginning of the 20th century. Long coveted by foreign powers such as Spain and England, the island was regularly the scene of occupations or battles, following the example of the famous naval battle of the Cardinals in 1759 during the Seven Years War. Attached for a time to Belle-Île, the commune regains its independence at the end of the XIXth century, living mainly of its fishing at the time.
Today, the commune of Hoedic has a tourist activity linked to its beaches and its architectural heritage of great interest.
