A religious building in the Mosan Renaissance style, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church of Hierges, in the Ardennes, was built in the second half of the 16th century to follow on from a first chapel deemed too modest.
Listed as Historical Monuments, it unveils in its interior very beautiful stained-glass windows from the 17th century, as well as several objects classified or inscribed such as a glass roof representing a Virgin and Child, a painting of the Adoration of the Magi or a statue of Christ on the cross. The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste also houses a 17th century painting by Charles Eyckens, The Virgin and Saint John the Baptist interceding on behalf of two clergymen.
