Hénin-Beaumont

The church of St. Martin was built in the 1930s in a Greco-Byzantine style. It replaces the original building destroyed by the Germans in 1917, during the First World War. Inside, one can notably discover a path of the cross of the painter Henri Rapin, as well as a beautiful high altar in white marble. The arches supporting the vaults and the dome are covered with mosaics. The site is classified in its entirety to the Historical Monuments.

The Hénin-Beaumont Town Hall is also worth a visit with its facade sculptures.

In the former mining basin of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, we can still discover some slag heaps, vestiges of the old economy of the town.

The Parc des îles: in the communes of Drocourt, Hénin-Beaumont and Rouvroy, the landscapes of the Parc des Îles intertwine to form an extraordinary space of nature. With its meadows, lawns, woodlands and 7 islands, the man has managed to recreate a green setting where nature regains its rights. On the park, facilities dedicated to the practice of sports activities and relaxation have been set up to appeal to both young and old. Located on the former site of the Drocourt coking plant, this vast green lung of 44 hectares represents an ideal site for the development of outdoor sports activities. Opening hours of the Parc des îles: Winter: from October to April from 8am to 6pm - Summer: from May to September from 7am to 9pm.

Aquaterra, the house of the environment: on the former industrial site of the Drocourt cokeries, Aquaterra, the environmental house of the Agglomeration Hénin-Carvin is located in the heart of the Parc des îles. It highlights the protection of nature and sustainable development. Visit its exhibitions but also the greenhouse and gardens. The house of the environment is also an educational place: many workshops are offered to the students of the territory and the general public.

The weekly market is held on Tuesday and Friday morning. A Christmas market takes place in the city by year's end. Many flea markets are held in the city between April and October.

The Ducasse is the carnival of the city, held every year in May and September.

For a whole weekend of June Hénin-Beaumont starts the time of the Middle Ages with medieval troubadours with knights and other dishes of the day.

Every summer, the beach HB settled on the banks of the water body Bord-des-Eaux with entertainment.

The Tiot Loupiot festival held in several cities in the region, including Hénin-Beaumont, in October. It offers events turned around the awakening of toddlers.
