Ville francilienne, Grigny is located in the department of Essonne, in the natural region of Hurepoix. It is about twenty kilometers from Paris, not far from Corbeille-Essonnes, Arpajon or Palaiseau. Member of the arrondissement of Evry, the commune of Ile-de-France is known mainly for its rich and ancient history.
Former necropolis pre-Merovingian, the city of Grigny was also, over time, a place of welcome for the Protestants following the Edict of Nantes, a quarrying village or even a working city in the years 1930. Having multiplied Its population by ten in ten years, it is today a commune of importance in the region, mainly offering a residential setting.
Having experienced a rapid and recent urbanization, Grigny does not have an ancient architectural heritage of great importance, but the municipality enjoys a pleasant natural environment and a close proximity with Paris.
