Charming little village-street Bas-Rhin, Goxwiller takes place in the country of Barr, about thirty kilometers from Strasbourg and its famous cathedral. It is located not far from Gertwiller, Heiligenstein and Zellwiller, on the piedmont vineyard.
Originally Villa veterana on the Roman road to Piedmont, Goxwiller is mentioned for the first time in the tenth century. At the time, it constitutes a property subservient to several abbeys, including that of Niedermunster and will retain this status until the first half of the sixteenth century. Placed under the suzerainty of Strasbourg until the French Revolution, the village was mainly illustrated in history by its important wine-growing activity started in the nineteenth century and the ravages of successive world wars.
Today, Goxwiller continues to seduce visitors with its exceptional landscapes, its architectural heritage of interest and its proximity to some of the most beautiful cities of Alsace.
