Small village in the west of Ariège, Galey takes place about sixty kilometers from Foix, in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Ariège Pyrenees. Located 800 m above sea level, near Saint-Jean-du-Castillonnais, Herran and Saint-Lary, it is on the edge of Haute-Garonne.
Composed of a central town and four hamlets, the castle, Orchein, the Col de la Hourque and Escarchein, the village of Galey began to develop during the 12th century, particularly around its casal. Long known for its wine-growing activity, it is now popular with tourists, with a population that triples in summer.
Unspoiled landscapes, hiking trails and open spaces attract lovers of nature and authenticity.
