History:
The first traces of occupation dating back to the Gallo-Roman period but remain poorly understood. In the Middle Ages by cons village knows a boom with the installation of the priory of St. John Cohardon, depending on the Abbey of Saint Nicolas d'Angers and the installation of several lords who develop agriculture and weaving.
In the 18th century with the creation of royal roads including that of Le Mans to Alençon, some hostels are opening their doors to the village.
In 1944, the Germans make the town their main point of resistance to the advance of General Leclerc to Alencon.
