New commune created on January 1, 2016 of the grouping of Fragnes and La Loyère, Fragnes-La-Loyère takes place in Saône-et-Loire, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. It is located near Chalon-sur-Saone, about sixty kilometers from Macon.
Once crossed by the Roman road of Chalon-Beaune, the town was for a long time an important stage on the trade routes. Mainly focused on livestock and agriculture, it experienced a rapid economic boom in the early 1960s because of its proximity to a strong industrial base.
Today, the proximity of Fragnes-La-Loyère with some of the biggest tourist sites in the department makes it an ideal place for a quiet stay. The new municipality also has a modest tourist heritage that attracts visitors each year.
