Located in the heart of Fort-de-France, the Museum of Pre-Columbian Archeology and Prehistory of Martinique offers to discover over 4,000 years of history and Amerindian civilizations on the island. Housed in a former military commissariat, the place reveals its visitors the most ancient and diverse heritage of the Lesser Antilles with a collection of over 3000 pieces.
On site, visitors can browse through six themed rooms which trace the history of Native American man through archeology, history, botany, anthropology or linguistics.
On a surface of over 440 square meters, the museum unveils all its wonders, including, since 2007, part of the Arson-Cadilhac collection that presents the daily life of Native-speaking peoples Arawak Colombia and Venezuela in the middle of the twentieth century. Images, sounds, text or valuable objects are accessible to better understand this civilization.
