Located in the heart of the vineyards, Fontevraud Abbey is a site to visit. Founded in the 12th century, the largest monastic city of elegant architecture France declines in white limestone tufa stone. A monument erected by Robert ambitious Arbrissel which gave power to women choosing the outset to place an abbess at the head of this double order (monks and nuns). The cemetery contains the tombs of the kings of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart.
