Fontan is a town of Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It is located near Nice, big tourist town in the region. The small village of around 300 inhabitants would hold its name from Latin, Fontes Aquarum, reminiscent of the many fresh springs that feed the site. Old, it was created in 1616 according to the wishes of the Duke of Savoy, Charles Emmanuel I.
