Small town of Pas-de-Calais, between Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer, Ferques takes place next to Marquise, 130 kilometers from Arras. Member of the community of communes of the land of the two caps, it is located about fifteen kilometers from the very tourist Cape Gray-Nez, the nearest French coast point of the English coasts.
Populated since prehistoric times, the territory of Ferques has unveiled during archaeological excavations indications of Celtic and Gallo-Roman presence. Occupied by barbarians in the 6th century, it developed strongly in the Middle Ages, especially around the important Abbey of Beaulieu. Marked by the Hundred Years War and the English incursions, it knows a mainly agricultural activity over the centuries. The town is also known for its imposing marble quarries.
Today, Ferques continues to attract visitors with its calm and interesting architectural and natural heritage.
