Located west of Neuwiller-lès-Saverne, in the Lower Rhine, Hunebourg Castle is a site listed as a Historic Monument on a sandstone rock 425 meters above sea level and accessible by the Zinsel Valley.
Formerly owned by the Counts of Huneburg, the castle was built in the 12th century. It passed from hand to hand over the centuries, before seeing its ruins bought in the early nineteenth century by General Clarke who turns the whole park. In the second half of the 20th century, it becomes what it is still today, a hotel.
The site welcomes visitors in an exceptional natural setting, also offering a restaurant. You can still admire the remains of the original building such as floors and furniture, the cave of love, or the boundaries defining the plot.
