Charming town of Belfort, in Burgundy, Franche-Comté Delle takes place twenty-five kilometers from Belfort, on the edge of the border with Switzerland. Second city of the department in terms of population, it is not far Thiancourt Joncherey and Grandvillars.

Occupied since the Gallo-Roman Delle was originally installed at the intersection of the main road connecting Mandeure Augusta Raurica. Property of the duchy of Alemannia in the seventh century, and land under the Merovingian Alsatian authority, the town is forged over the centuries its appearance today suffering the vagaries of history because of its strategic location.

Full of charm, the city still continues to attract visitors from all sides by the variety of its historical heritage.

Things to see and do

Strolling through the old Delle you can enjoy a great diversity in architecture reflecting the different periods crossings. The late Middle Ages to the Renaissance, several buildings reveal their charm throughout the city.

Built in the late sixteenth century, the Saint-Léger was largely modified in the eighteenth and nineteenth half. It is still possible, however, admire a beautiful high altar of Louis XV and the organ Schwenkedel 1967 with horizontal trumpets.

Walking through the streets, do not miss to linger on the tower southeast corner of the medieval city, the house of the Remparts and the Moser home of the sixteenth century, the Old Hospital of the eighteenth, the caryatids at home with the sixteenth its magnificent sculptures on the front or on the old city hall or Feltin house that hosts the current town hall.

While staying in the area, you can also explore the birthplace of General Scherer, high character of the French Revolution, or the many ancient fountains that line the town, and the location of the door from Germany who once served the fortified town and gave access to the Alsace or neighboring Switzerland.
