Decazeville is a city of Aveyron located in the district of Villefranche-de-Rouergue and crossed by a tributary of the Lot, the skid death.
Decazeville commune, the Sala in Occitan, was created entirely in the nineteenth century to exploit coal in present on the site. For a long time Decazeville was one of the major points of the coal production of Aveyron. It takes its name from its founder, the Duke Elie Decazes, a politician.
If this economic activity is in decline for a long time, the city has now turned to tourism, with the ancient sights and monuments dedicated to coal and its use. One can find such a large number of places that were once used for coal companies.
