The pretty little town of Crespy-le-Neuf is worth a visit, first of all for its flowery flowerbeds which are offered to the walkers, but also for its houses and its former wash-house. Not so long ago laundries were indispensable. Many grandmothers remember the wash house, to have gone with their parents. First of all it was necessary to go there by pushing the wheelbarrow filled with washing clothes and brushes, soap and straw-filled case on which the woman knelt, to brush, wash, rinse, twist, all the linen and sheets. This work took two days, from morning to evening. The fact that there were often other people made the task less painful, more women helped each other, especially for the sheets.
