Crépon is a small village of over 220 inhabitants situated in the Calvados in Normandy. It lies in the heart of Bessin, a few kilometers from Courseulles-sur-Mer and Arromanches-les-Bains, and fifteen kilometers from Bayeux. It would take its name from the Gallic Crippo, which together with the term refers Dunon agglomeration.

The village of Crépon still has a beautiful typical architectural heritage of this part of Normandy, and is on the edge of Gold Beach, one of the beaches of Normandy which was the scene of the landing of allied June 6th, 1944.

Full of charm, this town allows you to enjoy a quiet holiday at the seaside of the Channel, in the heart of a region with a rich and exciting history. Difficult to resist the beauty that surrounds this village.

Things to see and do

Crépon this still beautiful monuments testifying to the wealth of this region appreciated by all.

Listed historical monument, the church Saint-Médard-et-Saint-Gildard was built in the twelfth century before experiencing several changes in the nineteenth century. Dedicated to the twin brothers of the same name, it is renowned for its furniture important of which many pieces are classified as objects. Note for example the presence of a beautiful stone altarpiece of the seventeenth century and the eighteenth stalls.

But it is the other notable mansions and farms that have brought fame to Crépon in the Normandy region. They are likely to be listed as Historic Monuments for their architectural and historical interest. Built in the thirteenth century, the farm of Rançonnière was occupied by the Germans during World War II before becoming again a beautiful mansion where antiques and flea market items are mixed. One can also admire a beautiful landscaped garden. Also listed as Historic Monuments, the manor of Clos de Mondeville and Manor Farm Great abound not more interest.

Mathan's mansion, originally built in the early seventeenth century, presents a monumental stone staircase, a barn, a shed and stables, and a beautiful fountain antique pump. It was reported in the general inventory of cultural heritage of Lower Normandy.

The village also houses Crépon three castles dating back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the castle of Crépon, house Blais, and the Pavilion.

Events and festivities

Every year in December, Crépon organizes a Christmas tree during a ceremony which saw the presentation of gifts to children from 0 to 10 years by Father Christmas.
