Location: Valroufié is located 10 km north-east of Cahors. The village is located in the bottom of a valley. The old town is characterized by landscapes marked by the relief declining open landscapes, the limestone plateau of Constans to the bottom of narrow valleys. The tree cover covers almost all the hillsides and creates a fringe edge in contact with grasslands in a sling.
History: The etymology of Valroufié is controversial. Some evoke "Valli Rifferia", this place belonged to the house of Roux, others propose "valli" = valley, and "ruffi" = loup, lynx. There is very little history about the town. The oral tradition indicates that originally, the village was not established in its current location. It is difficult to specify when the village came to be built along the Bellefont valley. There is mention of a church from the end of the tenth century, a castle during the Hundred Years War. Valroufié was erected in town hall, by the law of 1851 at the expense of that of Laroque des Arcs.
Economy: Little economic activity outside a gastronomic trade center and a craft fabric. The assets work on Cahors. The former municipality is characterized by a rural living environment turned to a green tourism (lodgings, hikes).
