Condette - Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Pas-de-Calais

Nestled in the Boulonnais, Condette extends over 1626 hectares, 55% of which is wooded. It is an exceptional landscape that awaits you composed of dunes alternating with forests and punctuated with marshes. The town benefits from an exceptional natural environment, with the sea just 3 km away. The commune was born in 1203 by the signing of a charter in the castle of Hardelot dating from the ninth century. In the 12th century, this castle was replaced by another, built by the counts of Boulogne to have a residence near their hunting grounds. The market garden activity is the main economic spring of the village and still continues today occupying still 30% of the territory. It is therefore a welcoming city and turned towards the nature that opens its doors to you.

Things to see and do

Ideal place for walks, Condette offers an exceptional natural environment for all lovers of nature. Put on your hiking shoes and go on the trails through woods and forests to meet preserved flora and fauna. You will also have the opportunity to discover the marsh which is a nature reserve. It is a veritable mosaic of peat and vases that make up this unique ecosystem where many species develop in complete tranquility. On 35 hectares, the marsh found its place between two wooded massifs. The hiking trails are marked with information panels on the local fauna and the history of this exceptional site. You will not miss a trip to the Lake of Mirrors also called Lake Hardelot Castle. Not far from the forest of Ecault, this lake is in the heart of the nature reserve. Great works have allowed to restore its physiognomy of yesteryear. This place is highly prized for its beauty and the richness of the animals and insects present on the site. Last but not least, this nature reserve offers a last surprise as it also houses the splendid castle of Hardelot. The mansion, completed in the 19th century, rests on foundations dating from 1222. Dominating the swamp and the mirror lake, it is perched on a hill proudly raising 9 towers rising towards the sky. Two large concentric ditches protect its access.
