According to historians, the first town in Colombes was founded around the same time that the city of Paris, as evidenced by the remains found during archaeological excavations in the early nineteenth century. The city has expanded significantly in the course of the nineteenth century with the construction of bridges over the Seine, and the arrival of train stations.
