Located halfway between Valence and Montelimar, village Cliousclat takes place at the heart of the Drôme, near Marmande. Town perched, it is known since the seventeenth century for its production of traditional pottery that made his reputation.

The soil rich in clay, has indeed promoted this popular establishment for locals and visitors worldwide. The village name comes directly from the Provençal Occitan cliéou, meaning slope. In the seventeenth century, the term meaning usclati burned, was added.

Authentic and pleasant village Cliousclat deserves attention to enjoy the charm of old stones and to discover an ancient art. The potters are still numerous here, and you can admire unique works.

Handmade pottery lovers will delight in Cliousclat still has several talented artists. In summer, a small museum of pottery Stories is also available to learn more about the village's history and traditions.
